Science Project Due: Friday, March 1, 2019

Science Fair - Thursday, March 14, 2019

Dear P.S. 304 Families,

As you may have heard the science fair time is here. I’m sending this form home for the students to confirm the topic of their investigative science fair project. They will be receiving their Science Journal packet shortly, explaining the project in further detail.

There will also be a parent engagement workshop on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 from 3-4pm; in the science lab, for those families who are interested or have any questions.

When choosing please remember to have the student select an investigative topic, that is NOT a research project (no dioramas on outer space, no papier-mâché volcanoes that erupt, no reports on the swimming patterns of whales, etc.). They will conduct an experiment and prove, or disprove, their hypothesis (prediction) at the end. Once the proposal has been checked, they may begin their project. Take some time to discuss topics and start researching. Some great sites to visit for inspiration are: sciencebuddies.org, stevespangler.com, pbskids.org/zoom or pbskids.org/dragonflytv, and all-sciencefair-projects.com. Students may work individually, in pairs, or in groups of three, but only on their same grade and with the approval of all parents involved.

Thank you to the families who have contacted me or plan to attend the parent engagement session; we appreciate the collaboration.

Scientifically yours,

Ms. R. Miles
